|
| Ever
wonder if the things you read are true? FCE provides research
based information through The University of Tennessee Agricultural
Extension Service. Experience learning with friends as you share
what you know at hands-on workshops and monthly meetings. Programs
are provided in all family and consumer sciences areas, i.e. family
economics, family life, environmental education, food safety ,
nutrition, health, housing, aging, and stress management.
To Lead ...
Leadership development is a focus for FCE. Through shared opportunities,
you can learn skills helpful in bringing growth to your community,
church, local government, and family. FCE offers learning opportunities
as officers and program leaders on the local club level and
the county level.
To Grow and Share ...
Each year FCE provides the opportunity to make a difference
in the lives of families in your community. Community service
is the cornerstone for FCE clubs. Projects vary from club to
club as they work to meet the needs of the local community.
In March 1977, a group of ladies met in the
home of Louise Simmons, with Mary Shelton, Agnes Pitts, and
Irene Stevenson. The following month, April, the Pea Ridge
Home Demonstration Club was organized.

Pea
Ridge is now a Family and Community Education (FCE) Club
and for over 30 years we have enjoyed meeting together
in the homes of our members, at community centers and
in church reception halls.
Some
of our activities include collecting items for different
organizations that need help. This included magazines
for the Dr’s offices and hospitals, collecting can
tabs for St. Jude, dog and cat food for the Humane Society,
canned goods for Good Sam, pantry items for West End Baptist
Church, needed items for Junior's House, stuffed animals
for the fire department, products for ForMac, and for
several months we collected items, as requested, for the
Wings of Love Ministries. We continue to collect for the
Wings of Love Ministries.
In
addition, our club visits Donalson Assisted Living every
month. We either play bingo with them or teach them
craft projects. |
